A Songwriter's Odyssey

Trinelise Væring’s new album, A Songwriter’s Odyssey
is out January 31st, 2025

A Songwriter’s Odyssey is my eighth solo album. It represents a deep dive into alt-country and Americana ( out scandinavian take on that we call Nordicana). The album explores themes of empowerment, resilience, and personal as well as artistic journey, mirroring my own experiences in the music industry and my life as an adult woman, mother, daughter, and wife.

In 2023 I travelled from Copenhagen where I live to Vancouver, Canada to record my album with producer and drummer John Raham, who also gathered wonderful band for me for the recording.

Going to Canada to record this album has been a dream come true for me. I have long wanted to write a country album, I had it in me for years but it took a world pandemic for me to actually sit down write it, and an odyssey across the Atlantic Ocean to find the right people work with.

This album is dedicated in loving memory of Palle & Jytte Væring, my parents, who both died in the process of writing these songs.

Reviews

Roots Music Canada
Sonically, A Songwriter’s Odyssey is a hybrid between the gritty, tough, relentlessly insistent music of Car Wheels on a Gravel Road-period Lucinda Williams and the lush and warmly drenched melancholic sweetness of KD Lang’s masterpiece IngenueThe pedal steel playing is especially breathtaking and imbues the songs with a depth and feeling that wrenches each drop of emotion from the poignant lyrics. Trinelise’s voice is rich, colourful and expressive, on both her lead vocals and her stylish backing vocal arrangements. READ

”Alt-country”? Hellre countrymagi.”  READ
