"You were my runaway truck ramp
I was your getaway car"

Don’t we all need a metaphorical truck ramp at times?
The inspiration for the lyric came from a road trips across the U.S., where I found myself wondering about the “Runaway Truck Ramp” signs scattered along desolate stretches of mountainous highways. I searched online and watched videos of massive trucks using these gravel ramps to stop their dangerous downhill descent when their brakes failed.
It struck me—don’t we all need a metaphorical truck ramp at times? Something, or someone, to catch us when we’re spiraling out of control. But the bittersweet reality is that once our natural brakes start working again, we may find that we no longer need that lifesaving presence in our lives.
My lyric for, Runaway Truck Ramp, doesn’t dwell on the sadness of this truth but embraces the idea that love, like life, often brings us together at the right time for a specific purpose. Some connections are meant to last forever, while others seem to exist to help us through a moment—both are valuable and certainly shape us along the way.

Like my January album release A Songwriter’s Odyssey, “Runaway Truck Ramp”  was recorded in Vancouver, Canada with JUNO-winning producer John Raham and Canadian band and supported by Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, Canada, The Danish Arts Foundation, Koda Kultur, Dansk Solistforbund og Dansk Kapelmester Forening.
